American Idol Season 12 is taking the action away from the stage and bringing it right at the judges' table as Nicki Minaj hurls personal and acerbic insults at Mariah Carey, calling her "bitter" and "insecure" on the social networking site Twitter.

Wednesday night's show saw the two divas taking it out to each other while critiquing one of the show's final four contestants, Angie Miller. Carey obviously did not take it too lightly that Minaj strongly interrupted her while assessing Miller's performance. This prompted the five-time Grammy winner to point a finger at Minaj and blasted the rapper-singer for being unsuccessful in reaching the No. 1 spot of the Billboard Hot 100.

On Thursday, an obvious fuming Minaj tweeted ""All dem #1s but JLo phone ringin? Lol, I guess having a personality, being a secure woman, and giving genuine critique still trumps that."

Minaj earned a backlash from her followers who took the tweet negatively. In response, the Trinidad born American rapper-singer urged her followers to start "asking why a woman SO successful at her age, is still so INSECURE, and bitter."

The two divas have not been having a smooth time since they took on their role as judges for AI's 12th season. There had been several instances in the past where the two heatedly clashed egos while on the job.

Meanwhile, Minaj's tweet on Thursday only boosts earlier reports that people behind the American Idol franchise are trying to get the services of Jennifer Lopez again to replace Carey. Apparently, AI execs want a JLo comeback to improve sagging ratings.

But according to reports, this plan to bring JLo back has already failed. Carey also allegedly threatened to take legal action to curb a possible JLo comeback.
