Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron ‘The Paperboy’ Booed at Cannes Film Festival?
The new film of Australia's prime actress, Nicole Kidman, and former 'High School Musical' actor, Zac Efron, 'The Paperboy', received mixed reviews when it premiered in the Cannes Film Festival.
"The Paperboy" is based on a murder mystery by Peter Dexter. Director Lee Daniels presented the story in a very plain manner.
He shoots lower-middle-class Southern living rooms and offices, and the people in them, the way they really looked in 1969. Daniels projected the laidback aura of the South. It seems that he wanted to us some movies will never show the audience.
The movie reminds a lot of Shadowboxer. A lot of people were shocked how odd a scene in the movie where Nicole Kidman pissed on Zac Efron when he was stung by a jellyfish as a form of first aid. Many critics say that Daniels is a very talented director only if he will get his hands on a good material.
"The Paperboy" is a thriller that follows the story of a reporter (Matthew McConaughey), and his brother (Zac Efron), in investigating a murder case in order to free a man (John Cusack) on death row. Nicole Kidman plays the role of a mysterious woman who writes letters to men in prison, and brings the case of Cusack's inmate to the attention of the brothers.
Zac Efron said that making love with prime Australian actress Nicole Kidman, although it is fake, is one of the highlights of his life and career.
The 24-year-old actor was nothing but delighted when he landed the role of Nicole Kidman's lover for the film "The Paperboy." The actor recently completed the shoot for the thriller, which is based on the novel by American author Pete Dexter, in New Orleans, Louisiana and he has revealed he relished his time with Kidman.
"She's my love interest... Nicole is so gorgeous. It was everything you dreamed of. She was such a lovely person. I pinch myself everyday, especially after doing love scenes with Nicole Kidman. It was the highlight of my life. Nicole was something else and was always in character. She didn't get weird method, like some actors do, but I have never seen anyone so centered," Efron told AAP.
Nicole Kidman replaced Sofia Vergara as the latter backed out due to schedule conflict with her shooting of ABC comedy "Modern Family." Tobey Maguire should also be in the cast but also backed out from the film last June causing minor delay on the film.
The drama, slated for release in 2012, is being produced by Daniels, Millenium Entertainment, Benaroya Pictures and Nu Image Films. "The Paperboy" is bound for release in later 2012.
