The ex-"American Idol" executive producer Nigel Lythgoe conveyed his frustration immediately after the award for Outstanding Reality Competition Show was announced on stage.

The former producer of the Fox show expressed his shock via Twitter immediately after the award for Outstanding Reality Competition Show was given to "The Voice."

"So You Think You Can Dance" one of Lythgoe's shows was nominated in the category along with "The Amazing Race," "Dancing With The Stars," "Project Runway," and "Top Chef." The reason for his Twitter outcry was not because "So You Think You Can Dance" could not win but something else.

"Shocked that The Voice won. Not so much for #SYTYCD but for #AmericanIdol," tweeted Lythgoe.

His subsequent tweet defended the above tweet. "The first, the best and the program that changed the face of TV," Lythgoe tweeted.

Co-creator and executive producer of "So You Think You Can Dance," shared that "American Idol" entered in its 13th season in 2014, but has been losing for a long time to "The Amazing Race."

"I'm talking about over the 11 years American Idol changed the face of television across the World it didn't win an Emmy. Not just lately," he tweeted expressing his disappointment over the results.

Well, he also praised and congratulated Derek Hough on his win for Best Choreography in "Dancing With The Stars."

"Thrilled for@DerekHough. Delighted for all the choreographers." he tweeted. "More importantly so proud to see DANCE take the main stage at #The Emmy's," Lythgoe tweeted.

In July, he was let go from the Fox show. He stated that he was "truly saddened to be leaving a great team of friends and colleagues. ... If the executives that are now in charge of American Idol believe that the ratings will improve with my departure, I have no complaints," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
