It will be officially over between Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchi as the high profile couple's 'quickie divorce' will be heard at 10.30am on July 31 in London's High Court. The divorce comes just weeks after Saatchi was pictured holding her throat and pinching her nose in a London restaurant.

The couple who stayed married for almost a decade said the divorce will be "undefended" and a decree nisi will be pronounced on July 31. In U.K. divorce law decree nisi is granted when a court is satisfied that the petitioner is entitled to a divorce. Decree nisi does not end the marriage but means that the court is satisfied that the person who issued the divorce petition has proved the contents of the petition and is entitled to a divorce.

Saatchi and Lawson are not required to attend the hearing but will need to wait about six weeks for the divorce to be finalised, when the judge issues decree absolute, the legal document that ends marriage.

The 53-year-old celebrity chef filed the divorce application it's reported they've agreed never to publicly release the terms of the divorce or financial settlements, Daily Mail has reported.

"We can confirm Fiona Shackleton is acting for Nigella Lawson to ensure a swift and amicable resolution," the couple released a joint statement earlier in July.

"Neither party will be making financial claims. Both parties would appreciate privacy for themselves and their children at this difficult time," the statement said.

Saatchi also issued a statement earlier where he mentioned he had 'clearly been a disappointment' to his wife over the past year, and that they had been drifting apart. The couple are understood to have signed a pre-nuptial agreement when they married in 2003.

Saatchi is worth a reputed £100 million, while Lawson is worth £15 million as of 2007, £8 million of which came from book sales. Earlier in June 2013, photographs were published by the Sunday People newspaper of Lawson being grabbed around the neck by Saatchi during an argument outside a London seafood restaurant.

The 70-year old Saatchi later described the pictures as showing only a "playful tiff". After a police investigation of the incident, Saatchi was cautioned for assault, and it was reported that Lawson left the family home the day later.

Art collector Saatchi announced in early July that he was divorcing Lawson, stating that he had "clearly been a disappointment to Nigella during the last year or so" and that the couple had "become estranged and drifted apart". Lawson has made no public comment since the incident.

This is Nigella's second marriage to Saatchi. Lawson was earlier married to late journalist John in 1992 and had two children from him Cosima Thomasina (born 1994) and Bruno Paul Nigel (born 1996).
