"The Night Shift" is about the employees at the San Antonio Memorial Hospital (mostly doctors and nurses) who are working the night shift, hence, the title of the show. Aside from struggling hard to stay awake while working, they must deal with other stressful situations such as weird cases, various patients, their families, annoying co-workers and an underfunded hospital. Plus, they each have their own personal dramas to deal with.

The newest medical drama from NBC stars Eoin Macken as Dr. TC Callahan, Brendan Fehr of "Roswell" as Drew, Ken Leung of "Lost" as Dr. Topher Zia, Freddy Rodriguez as Michael Ragosa, Jill Flint as Dr. Jordan Alexander, Robert Bailey Jr. as Dr. Paul Cummings, Jeananne Goossen as Krista, Daniella Alonso as Dr. Landry De La Cruz and JR Lemon as Kenny.

Sony Pictures Television Inc. produced "The Night Shift" with Jeff Judah ("Diary of a Wimpy Kid," "Freaks and Geeks") and Gabe Sachs as executive producers as well as writers.

In "Blood Brothers," Topher and TC rode a helicopter to get to the only survivor of a plane crash. Meanwhile, Candy, an exotic dancer who gets injured while performing caught Paul's eye. Unfortunately, her health situation goes from bad to worse. There was also a hostage situation at the San Antonio Memorial Hospital, prompting them to announce it as Code Silver. This code is used in hospitals whenever there is a person with a weapon or a hostage situation happening inside the building.
