Former “The Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev gave an emotional acceptance speech after receiving the 2015 Teen Choice Award for choice TV actress: sci-fi/fantasy on Sunday night.

Dobrev began her speech with a pair of vampire fangs in her mouth. After thanking the audience, the actress took them out on the stage, realising it was difficult to talk with them in mouth. She said that she does not need the vampire fangs anymore.

The actress quit “The Vampire Diaries” after playing the main female protagonist, Elena Gilbert, for six seasons. And the Teen Choice Award acceptance speech ended up being her farewell speech. "The last few months have been a big change for me," she said while accepting the award, according to E! Online.

"Change. It's a scary word, or I used to think that, because it meant new beginnings. New beginnings with a future that was unknown," said the actress, adding that change is necessary for her to “grow up and learn and to better yourself, because everything in life comes to an end.”

“As this chapter of my life comes to an end, I look back at it with a grateful heart, and I smile, because just like my character Elena, I started the show as a young girl, and together we grew up,” she said. Dobrev added that she has grown up to be a woman on the television series and spent “six incredible years” of her life on the show.

In addition to thanking her fans for their love and support, Dobrev, 26, also thanked her producer Julie Plec and screenwriter Kevin Williamson for giving her the chance to work on “The Vampire Diaries.” Before ending her emotional speech, Dobrev said to her fans: "And remember, change is coming! So hold on and enjoy the ride. It's going to be fun.”
