Nintendo NX news: Nintendo lowers profit forecast, speculations abound for patented camera sensor and Luigi’s Mansion
A new leaked patent may be pointing to a new additional feature for the Nintendo NX. And from the looks of it, the additional feature may actually be a sensor camera similar to the Kinect.
With the E3 2016 already nearing, and expectations continuing to rise on the reveal of the Nintendo NX, there are a few more sightings and clues to how the console will look like. Gamingbolt managed to find a patent that hints that the Nintendo NX may actually have gesture recognition and distance measurement.

Based on the images in the link above, originally obtained by a NeoGAF user, there are certain movements that seem to be read by the device. There is even a GPS tracking and infrared camera also included in the patent.
As what happens with most patent filings, not everything becomes an actual product. There are usually some ideas filed for future pursuits, or sometimes with no end point at all. But if it does pertain to the Nintendo NX, especially since there has been talk about the Nintendo NX being a hybrid console, it justifies some players’ reactions as to the new finding. Hopefully, the additional feature does offer another layer to enhance the device rather than being excess baggage that will only contribute to the price point and not the value of the gaming console.
Similarly, there is also a leak on a possible title for the Nintendo NX. This time, it is allegedly a game dubbed as “Luigi’s Mansion 3.” Dual Pixels reported that the tip comes from a source that has a fairly credible background as far as leaks go. The title will reportedly be a way to showcase the visuals of the Nintendo NX.
“Luigi’s Mansion 3” will supposedly be a good representation of the Nintendo NX in terms of visuals that can be achieved in the current lineup of gaming hardware. Its look will be something of a living 3D cartoon movie will full details, lighting and shadows. There is even talk of augmented reality multiplayer mode, though details for that were not shared.
In the midst of the excitement, however, Nintendo has released a new estimated forecast for 2015. According to DualShockers, the company is scaling back the estimates for the fiscal year of 2015, due to end at the last day of March. The company changed the estimate for the Nintendo 3Ds from 7.6 million units with 56 million software sales to only 6.6 million units sold for hardware and 47 million for software.
At the same time, there were also lowered expectations for the operating income, ordinary income and estimate net sales. These are attributed mostly to the exchange rate of the yen to dollar and euro. Still, hardware-wise, Nintendo is on track for its two other consoles, the Wii U and the Wii.
