No Alcohol for Eid: What a Muslim is Not Allowed to Consume
Salman Khan, the Indian movie icon, wished his fans on Friday "Eid Mubarak" on Facebook. He uploaded a video where he wished the same on behalf of his foundation "Being Human" as well. Interestingly, Khan is charged with homicide of 5 five people in 2012. Apparently, he was drunk when he drove his Land Cruiser. Khan, a Muslim, must be aware of the fact the alcohol is "Haram" in Islam.
As Muslims celebrate Eid-al-Fitr worldwide, the occasion is marked by culinary pleasures. People are invited to eat and drink to celebrate this religious ceremony after a month-long fasting period. Alcohol is, however, not allowed to be a part of the menu. Muslim celebrities seem to celebrate Eid in a grand way but that important aspect about cuisine luxury is avoided.
Muslim celebrities are also pretty concerned about their public image as they do not want to portray that they are seen violating Islamic rules by any means.
Recently, Frank Ribery - the Muslim footballer from Bayern Munich - was drenched in beer by his team mates. It was on the occasion of the team winning the title. However, the French footballer was apparently irritated by this behaviour as alcohol is not allowed in his religion.
Ribery asked his team mates to keep alcohol away from him. He was allegedly collared by Jerome Boateng, his team mate, who poured beer on him to celebrate the 3-0 victory over Augsburg.
Apart from alcohol, a Muslim is also not allowed to eat any meat which is not slaughtered in the way mentioned in the Holy Quran. A Muslim is also strongly discouraged from having pork or any animal meat which is obtained through improper (non-Islamic) method of slaughtering.
Muslims generally stay away from any food or drink which they are not sure of. While they prefer eating at home, they make sure they are served Halal meat at restaurants.
