No ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ for 2014, But You Can View the New Batmobile Trailer and Explore the Tank
The previous rumour of a delay seemed to be a foretelling event as Rocksteady announced that its final take on the Arkham game series, "Batman: Arkham Knight," has been delayed into 2015.
It's not surprise that the game will need more time, especially after Rocksteady's Guy Perkins revealed a few new details for the Batmobile in the upcoming title. Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Escapist, he says that restriction in any form with the Batmobile is basically non-existent, meaning you can play your way, go where you want, and do as many stunts as possible.
"It was really important that if we're going to introduce the Batmobile it isn't just a car or a fast-travel system - it isn't a fast travel system - but it has to be the best car that it could possibly be," said Perkins to The Escapist. "It has to do more than just drive, it has to do more than just look cool. It's gotta be something that supports the game design, that makes it interesting to play with."

Another interesting factor about the Batmobile is that, more than just a car that changes your view and way of transportation, it even acts as a "police car" of sorts--llowing you to transport enemies or good people to another destination without putting them in any harm by being in a containment unit.
The Batmobile is by no means a "racing component" in "Batman: Arkham Knight." If anything, it's the kind of accessory that actually makes sense in-game, and is something that you'd want to utilize when the right moment calls for it.
As far as the reason for the delay is, GameSpot quotes Perkins saying, "If we didn't give the team more time to do it, then we would be releasing something that we weren't happy with. We want to make sure we're absolutely nailing it 100%"
Though the Batmobile pretty much already nails a lot of cool gear and add-ons in anyone's checklist, Rocksteady does have a point in the delay and the anticipation will only bring in a better game.
But even with the delay of "Batman: Arkham Knight," fans can expect something during the E3 2014, as developer has promised that the design of the Batmobile will be fleshed out at the event. It's a teasing way to wait the remaining months until 2015, but fans can take what they can get from it.
The Batmobile Experience for Fans
For those raring to see more of the Batmobile, Rocksteady has also recently updated the Batmobile page of the official web site. Now it allows fans to view what's under the hood of the Batmobile.
The Batmobile has two modes, Pursuit Mode and Battle Mode, each of which has particular features that are more suited to a specific situation. For the former mode, the details on the Batmobile are clearly designed for chasing and apprehending the bad guys or saving civilians.
For instance, you can see what the engine from WayneTech is made up of--1200bhp and a top speed of 209 mph with the ability of going from 0 to 60 in 2.7 seconds,
The Batmobile also has immobilizer missiles, guided by laser or infrared homing and has a pyload of 5gm high explosive cl-20/hmx cocrystal. There's also a cross-section of the containment unit for passenger transport, with a 3-seater capability and a resistance to kinetic forces exceeding 4,500 lb/sq in.
The Battle Mode pretty much transforms the Batmobile into a tank, with armor plating and blast resistance, a Vulcan gun at the top for countering air combat, electroshock defense at the front and rear conductor rods for propel combatant, and a 60mm cannon to penetrate up to 820mm of steel armour at point blank range.
"Batman: Arkham Knight" is looking at a powerhouse for a Batmobile and all you need to do is log in using your WBID account to experience the Batmobile yourself.
