No Carmelo Anthony, No Chris Bosh; Houston Rockets Settle for Trevor Ariza for $32M/4Years
After missing out on Carmelo Anthony and Chris Bosh in free agency the Houston Rockets are settling for Trevor Ariza signing the 10-year veteran to a multi-year contract.
Sam Amick of USA Today Sports reported the deal that will pay Ariza $32 million over four years.
Houston had to save face after dealing away or committing to deal away both Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik in the early part of the 2014 season. Lin landed with the Los Angeles Lakers while Asik will be sent to the New Orleans Pelicans.
On related news, the Rockets have yet to decide on the status of their previous starting forward in Chandler Parsons, who signed a big offer sheet with Texas rivals Dallas Mavericks.
Parsons is set to earn $15M yearly and it the Rockets will have to consider if they want to pay roughly $23M for two SFs that potentially can start for them in that position.
Ariza is actually returning to Houston after playing for the Rockets in the 2009-2010 season. The 29-year-old also had stints with the New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans (formerly Hornets) and Washington Wizards.
Ariza averaged 14.4 points and 6.2 rebounds for the Wizards in the 2013-2014 season helping the squad to reach the postseason where they got booted out in the second round.
