Former Hollywood's sweethearts Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes now settled their separation 11 days after Katie filed for divorce. The two reached a settlement with Katie winning a sole custody of the couple's daughter, Suri.

The two avoided one of the dirtiest and highly publicized court battles as well as the detailed exposure of Tom's link to Scientology. The two said that they wanted to keep their family matters private as much as possible. The two also added that they will continue to support each other's role as parents.

The couple's six-year-old daughter Suri Cruise will live with her mother. However, Tom will have generous visiting rights and will have a lot of participation with their daughter life.

Holmes is currently living in a three-bedroom apartment in New York with Suri, while Cruise is based primarily in Los Angeles with his two adopted children, Connor and Bella. Holmes will stay in New York.

Katie Holmes filed for divorce on June 28 and Cruise was surprised by the act of his former wife. Holmes also filed for sole custody of Suri with a court in New York. Reports cited Tom Cruise's religion, Scientology, as the cause of the divorce. The church has been constantly subjected to bad publicity. Holmes, who was raised a Catholic, wished that Suri will not be brought up in the Church of Scientology.

There were reports that Cruise would file another case in California where the courts favored joint custody of divorce parents. However, the actor said that he does not want to drag the family into further disgrace and resolved the matter with a settlement. Representatives of Tom Cruise said that the actor will not accept to be cut off from his daughter's life. However, he would agree if he was give adequate visitation rights.

"The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life. We thank Tom's counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution," Katie Holmes counsel Jonathan Wolfe said.

The divorce will not be included in the list of costly divorces since the signed a prenuptial agreement before the marriage five years ago, and has indicated she wants to "earn her own money" from her acting career.
