No ‘Fifty Shades’ Lead for Matt Bomer; ‘Talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey’ – E.L. James; Fans Say ‘No!’ [PHOTOS]
Fifty Shades of Grey movie casting is complete for the two lead roles. Erotic fiction author E.L. James announced on Twitter within the past hour Charlie Hunnam is Christian Grey, and Dakota Johnson is Anastasia Steele. The news was welcomed by mixed reactions, with many fans expressing disappointment.
"The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey," tweets FOSG author E.L. James.
"Double disappointment for me, so sad," replies Twitter user @annekablue. Other FSOG fans echo the same fan frustration, saying they waited so long just to receive news that neither Matt Bomer nor Henry Cavill gets to play Christian Grey. Bomer and Cavill are two of the top fan favourites to play the sexy Christian role.
Charlie Hunnam is Jackson "Jax" Teller in the FX series Sons of Anarchy. As FSOG's Christian Grey, Charlie will suit up as a young under-30s billionaire drawn to the charms of simple college girl Anastasia Steele. They meet during an interview, and she later becomes his sex submissive in regular BDSM sessions.
"Yuck not. Won't be watching what crap casting," Facebook user Joanna Boultwood reacted to the news.
"Charlie (is) a very talented and versatile actor. I'm sure he will do the role justice," wrote Debra Eisenmann Droesler on the same page.
Not everyone is against Charlie Hunnam for the Grey role. Many FSOG fans have already said they're not watching the movie, but more are on the fence. Others receive the news with joy, if not sarcasm.
