No hope for 'Person of Interest' season 6; watch the season 5 teaser
“Person of Interest” ("POI") Season 5 was recently announced to launch on May 3, 2016 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. There will be 13 episodes in all, which will be shorter than the previous season. A new teaser also stated that there will no longer be a Season 6, as fans hoped.
"We’re extremely excited to be able share this final season with the fans. We’re eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show's fans — the best fans in the world. This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it’s been our great privilege to work on show for the past five seasons. We can’t wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter,” stated executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman to IGN.
Although rumors about the fifth season being the last began circulating several weeks ago, fans were still optimistic that there is still a chance for the show producers to continue with Season 6. An online petition was even initiated by fans, stating that the showrunners still have more stories to tell. They also urged viewers to keep patronizing the upcoming season to improve ratings.
With the recent statement by “Person of Interest” executive producers confirming the final season, fans will still look forward to the fact that the show will conclude properly and will not provide any cliffhangers. Executive producer J.J. Abrams previously said that Season 5 was originally intended to be the final season, and it will have the closure that fans are longing for.
Season 4 ended on May 5, which means that the show has been off the air for almost a year. After the first episode of Season 5, “Person of Interest” will air on Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 p.m. and the final episode will be on June 21, 2016 on CBS.
More updates and details on the cast and plot are expected soon.
