‘No Man’s Sky’ game features and items, collector’s edition and system requirements revealed
Hello Games is giving fans more information on the upcoming space exploration title. The latest batch of information has game director Sean Murray sharing some details on the different items and their respective functions in the game.
Shared over the PlayStation Blogcast as reported by DualShockers, Murray shared some of the mechanics when it comes to dealing with alien planets. According to Murray, there are upgrades that can be used, such as binoculars and suit upgrades. However, these also have wear and tear aspects that will push the experience of the player.

There is a way to add to one’s survival rate, and that is through exploration. The developer stated that exploring planets will allow the player to have better chances of surviving in “No Man’s Sky.” Apart from finding more resources and tech to use, longer survival rate also allows creation of tech upgrades, access more content and trade with other factions or trading posts for more resources.
One interesting tidbit is the interaction with different races across the universe. Hello Games has already made clear that the NPCs in “No Man’s Sky” is not your average side characters. However, it appears that interacting with NPCs will boost up one’s status and rep in that NPC’s race. Of course, the assumption here is that the player will behave to boost points. Behaving badly will have the opposite effect.
Hello Games has also confirmed the system requirements for “No Man’s Sky” for the PC version. Those who are planning to play it on the PC will have to prepare a lot of free disk space, as the game needs 10GB of free space to work. Other specs needed for a smooth gameplay experience include the Intel Core i3, 8GB of RAM, at least the Windows 7 OS and the NVIDIA GTX 480 video card, according to the listing over at SystemRequirements.
Players who have yet to get a preorder copy or bundle of “No Man’s Sky” may want to check out the collector’s edition. Dubbed as the Explorer’s Edition, this bundle will include a replica of the ship in the game.
IGN reported that the ship replica is around eight inches in length, with an Atlas display base, decals for customisation and removable background display. The ship replica is cast in metal and is hand-painted, as seen in the image above. More than the ship replica, the Explorer’s Edition of “No Man’s Sky” also includes a digital download of the game, a mystery item and a pin. The entire edition is sold at US$149.99 (approx. AU$200), but is only exclusive to iam8bit.
For those who are more inclined towards artbooks and comic books, Hello Games has also confirmed over the official website a “No Man’s Sky” Limited Edition. The source stated that this edition has a steelbook case, an artbook, an exclusive comic book co-created by Dave Gibbons, the starter pack containing bonus resources, a weapon blueprint and a ship boost, a PS4 theme as well as the copy of the game.
“No Man’s Sky” is launching on June 21 in North America and June 22 in Europe and June 24 in the U.K. It is a console exclusive for the PS4, but it will also be released on the PC.
