Not a single Australia personality is in the list of top 10 respected people in Australia. For some strange reasons, Australians do not find any one from their own country respectable enough to put them in the top 10 list unlike Great Britain which considers The Queen as the most respectable person in the country. On the other hand, U.S. President Barack Obama tops the list of most respected people in Australia. On the global level, Bill Microsoft Gates is voted as the most respectable person in the world.

The "World's Most Admired People" poll was conducted by YouGov which has their catch-line as "What the world thinks." It was carried out in Brazil, Nigeria, Egypt, China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Australia, United States and Russia. These countries apparently represent more than the half of the population in the world. The most populated country in each continent is included with the overall sample size of the surveyed people being 13,895. YouGov used a blend of mobile phones and the Internet to build up the survey.

In Australia, Queen Elizabeth is at the no. 2 spot in the top 10 admired people in the country while Pope Francis and Bill Gates are at no. 3 and no. 4 respectively. The other people in the list include The Dalai Lama, Angelina Jolie and Oprah Winfrey.

Pope Francisco tops the most admired list in Brazil. The other people in the list of the country are Pele, Silvio Santos and Brad Pitt. Bill Gates tops the list in China as well while foreign heads of the state like Barack Obama (no. 3) and Vladimir Putin (no. 4) make it to the list. President Xi Jinping finishes at no. 2 in the national list.

India has an interesting exception while most other countries have politicians on top. Sachin Tendulkar, the cricketing legend who retired in 2013, tops the Indian list. Prime Minister candidate Narendra Modi (no. 3), actor Amitabh Bachchan (no. 5) and political activist Anna Hazare (no. 7) make it to the top 10.

Abdel Fattah al-Sisi tops the list in Egypt, Barack Obama in Nigeria, France and Indonesia while Pope Francis in Germany. Cricketer turned politician Imran Khan tops the list in Pakistan. Vladimir Putin tops in the Russian list while Pope Francis tops the U.S. list.
