Apple fans would have to wait for sometime before the Retina Display arrives on the iPad Mini 2. Several reports indicated the Retina would likely have a full launch by 2014, at the earliest.

Among the evidence of the delay is the lack of leaks of casings for the device, unlike the iPad 5 which has such speculations. The Economic Daily News Report noted that the only suggestions of Retina or non-Retina for the iPad Mini 2 come from sources, analysts and factory floor observers. It explained the delay to Retina Display shortages.

However, the Taiwanese publication hinted the iPad Mini 2 with a Retina Display would come with another iPad model with a non-Retina resolution. But even the non-Retina model rumour is still considered unsure due to the frequent changes in different reports about the upcoming device.

NPD DisplaySearch initially said there will be a Retina display within 2013 for the iPad Mini 2 in a May 6 report, but later reports hinted of a problem in the update that would result in pushing back the Retina by several months.

Glen Yeung of Citi Research, in early June, said a cheaper iPad Mini 2 would come out by fall and priced $230 to $250, plus another device, a separate iPad mini Retina model by Q4 or Q1 2014.

Similar speculations had hounded the iPad Mini in 2012, but the Retina display was not included in the device. Although Apple fans were disappointed, nevertheless the tablet still emerged as the Cupertino-based tech giant's best selling tablet.
