The much awaited Nokia Lumia 1020 hits the country on Sept. 17, 2013 through Telstra and on Oct. 1 through Optus at RRP of AUD$899, Nokia Australia announced through an official statement.

Nokia 1020 is the newest 4G enabled smartphone to be made available for the Nokia loyal customers.

Andrew Volard, Telstra director device management, said that Telstra is excited to include Lumia 1020 to Telstra's 4G mobile device offerings.

"The Lumia range has been a great success with our customers so far and we expect they will welcome the arrival of the Nokia Lumia 1020. By teaming its razor sharp camera with Telstra's superfast 4G network, budding photographers will find it easier than ever to take high-quality pictures and share them faster in more places with the Lumia 1020," Mr Volard said.

Steve Lewis, Nokia Australia's managing director emphasised that Aussie users will be thrilled to use Lumia's camera app.

"Every year, Australians take millions of photos with their phones to record important life events. All too often the pictures are grainy, dark or blurry. We want to show people that they no longer have to compromise on image quality.The Lumia 1020 is without doubt the best imaging smartphone on the market today. We are continuing our commitment to deliver benchmark experiences in photography," Mr Lewis said.

As a result of the Microsoft-Nokia $7 billion deal, the Windows Phone Store app in Lumia 1020 has more than 170,000 apps, local apps included, which Aussies can benefit from. These apps include Virgin Australia, TripView, The SMH/Age, Dimmi, Living Social, Qantas, SBS, National Australia Bank, St.George and goCatch, as well as many of the big global names including Facebook, Skype, Pandora and Evernote among others.
