Nokia initially announced the Nokia Camera App for the Lumia PureView handsets at the Oct 2013 Nokia World event that combines all of the available features from the Pro Cam application with a couple of features from the Smart Cam app. Now, the Finnish company has released a beta version of the Camera app where more advanced features can be added to the other existing Nokia Lumia Windows Phone handsets.

In the Computer World report, the Nokia smartphones compatible with the announced app are completely listed and they are the Nokia Lumia 520, 521, 620, 625, 720, 810, 820, and 822. A final version is expected as well to arrive in the beginning of 2014.

The Finnish smartphone manufacturer reminds the smartphone owners to have patience when downloading the Nokia Camera beta app due to the different problems that can surface and affect any beta software. "You'll need to sign up to the Nokia Beta Labs site before you can get your hands on it. More importantly, you may find there are issues with the app," the NokNok report reads.

Nokia's blog post reads: "Initially, the beta will work the same way as the existing version. The first phase of the beta is to make sure it works the same way across the product range. But over time, new features will be tested and eventually added to the stable, non-Beta version through the normal Store update process."

The Nokia Beta Labs has announced that the Nokia Camera beta app will be bringing the amazing camera functionality to the non-Lumia smartphones. The NokNok report further claimed that the Camera beta app is offered separately to the Nokia Lumia smartphones with the Lumia Amber or Lumia Black software.

Nokia Lumia users can set the Nokia Camera Beta as the default camera so it can start up with the hardware shutter button. In the coming weeks and months, the Nokia Camera beta app will also be arriving with a number of updates and bug fixes and the development will run in tandem with the Nokia PureView version that can be both installed on the same handset.
