Nokia's Lumia 920 will soon deploy on more carriers and retailers in the United Kingdom beginning January 2013, the Finnish mobile phone maker said this week, adding that the supply problems bogging down the handset's global distribution will be resolved at around the same time.

The move is in response to clamours from UK fans wanting to get a hold of the Windows smartphone, Nokia said on its Facebook page in the country.

The flagship smartphone, running on Microsoft's Windows Phone 8, will become "available from other retailers from January onwards," the company was quoted by Phones Review as saying on its Facebook announcement.

The notice from Nokia came as its exclusive deal with EE, which fronts for the Orange-T-Mobile partnership in the country, is set to roll off next month, allowing for more British channels for the mobile phone that has become a surprise hit, both critical and commercial, for the struggling firm.

The Lumia 920 represents renewed interest on a Nokia a handset, which is a first in the past few years and after the company found itself suddenly lagging behind competitors that were distant seconds during its more than a decade of dominance in the global mobile phone industry.

Also, Nokia has issued assurances that the stock outs recorded in the U.S and European during the previous weeks will be a thing of the past come the first month of 2013.

"You can be very sure that we are working hard to meet the demand," Nokia spokesman Doug Dawson was reported by tech blog site Seeking Alpha as saying in a statement.

Lately, Nokia has been reaping positive feedbacks as the Lumia 920 continues to impress tech experts and consumers alike, prompting some analysts to predict that should the interest on the gadget proved sustainable, the company could start mapping its way to recovery afters years of product misses and slumps.

Recently, Gizmodo Australia named the Nokia smartphone as the 'Best Mobile Phone of the Year', which indicated that loyal readers of the popular tech site voted the handset as their preferred communication gadget.

The Lumia 920 bested Apple's iPhone 5 and Google's Nexus 4 in the Gizmodo poll, with the two handsets garnering only respective vote counts of 13.5 per cent and 8.97 per cent.

The Nokia phone, on the other hand, captured 49 per cent of the total votes. It also came second in Editor's Choice list of Gizmodo, beaten by the Nexus 4's affordable price tag but premium hardware and software specs.
