Alabama suffered a stunning 34-to-28 defeat against bitter rivals Auburn on Saturday. It was so stunning and so bitter that one Alabama fan killed a friend over the result in a horrible fatal shooting incident in Hoover, Alabama.

During an Iron Bowl party after the game, a shooting happened at around 7:00 pm on Saturday, local time, at the Summerchase at Riverchase apartments in Hoover.

Apparently, two female college football fans got into an argument over the Alabama loss inside the apartment and then the parking lot where the 28-year-old suspect Adrian Laroze Briskey shot the victim, 36-year-old Michelle Shepherd of Birmingham.

Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis said that the argument led to a scuffle which brought both women to the ground. During the fracas, the suspect pulled out a small handgun and eventually killed the victim on the scene.

According to multiple witnesses who attended the party, Briskey was intoxicated and acted “crazy” when others joked about the Alabama loss.

According to Nekesa Shepherd, the sister of the victim, the fight started when the suspect accused them of not being real Alabama fans for taking the loss to Auburn lightly.

“She said we weren’t real Alabama fans because it didn’t bother us that they lost. And then she started shooting,” Shepherd told the Associated Press.

“It was over a football game. I’m never going to forget it because she died in my arms,” added the victim’s sister.

Auburn Tigers senior cornerback Chris Davis, who is from Birmingham, returned a missed field goal attempt for a 109-yard return touchdown to allow Auburn to steal the victory with no time on the clock.

The Crimson Tide fell to No. 4 in the BCS standings because of the defeat and most likely will not get their “three-peat” after winning the college football national championship in 2012 and 2013.

According police captain Jim Coker, they are still investigating if the shooting was football-related and that they are looking into the sister’s claims.
