If there is one thing to be talked about at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards aside from the winners, it is none other than fashion.

Actress Zooey Deschanel is definitely a fashion risk-taker. She has got her own thing going on with a retro girl-next-door vibe that has earned her FOX show "New Girl" the now-overused title "adorkable."

At the event, Deschanel's dress was stunning, a custom Prada black gown with lime-green beading on the torso. However, she may have gone way too retro and a little bit too far with her hairstyle.

Being well-known for her quirky and girly personal style, she was surprisingly sophisticated and sleek in a sequined sparkly green and black gown by Prada. Her clutch and black satin pumps are all Prada too.

The "New Girl" nominee may not have won a Globe but she got raves for her breakthrough sophisticated gown. Her hair was also a red carpet fashion topic. Deschanel wore false eyelashes and choppy side pieces, a hair trend that was set in the mid' '60s by British actresses and models such as Jean Shrimpton.

Deschanel described how she felt about the dress which also featured a small white lace collar. "It's a little different for me, so it's fun," she said. Then, the actress showed off her black and white tuxedo manicure which she said was painted by a professional.

Zooey was nominated for Best Performance by a TV Actress Comedy or Musical for her role in "New Girl" but she lost to Laura Dern and her HBO series "Enlightened." During the awards night, Zooey was also in good company with the other nominees Tina Fey of "30 Rock", Laura Linney of "The Big C" and Amy Poehler of "Parks and Recreation."
