Ndamukong Suh faces disciplinary measures from the National Football League (NFL) after hitting an opponent in the knees in their game against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 action of the new season.

The Detroit Lions defensive tackle is widely viewed as NFL’s dirtiest player and his latest cheap shot could afford him of yet another penalty and/or suspension.

In the Lions-Vikings game on Sunday, a touchdown was reversed because Suh was called for an illegal low block against Vikings center John Sullivan.

Sullivan was injured in the play and missed the rest of the game.

“Some things are going to be borderline. If it’s in the heat of trying to make a play, you look the other way. But you can’t take a dude’s legs out from behind on an interception when he’s running down the field. To me, there’s just no room for that,” said Sullivan’s teammate, Jared Allen.

In a recent statement from the NFL, the league said that they will keep a close eye on hits to the knees of defenseless players this season.

“We are always looking at plays that may elevate themselves and we do include in that category hits on defenseless players and certainly the hits to knees to players who have not had the opportunity to protect themselves or are not looking in the direction of where the hit comes from,” said NFL chief of football operations Ray Anderson.

In 2011, Suh was the first NFL player suspended during the regular season for an on-the-field matter because he kicked Green Bay Packers guard Evan Dietrich-Smith. He was suspended for two games, costing him $165,647.
