A man dressed as Santa Claus walks though Times Square on Christmas Day in New York, December 25, 2013.

This was definitely not what he asked from Santa Claus on this Christmas. Markell X Beasley, a 6-year-old boy from Jefferson City, was found dead at a South Eastern Missouri home on the Christmas Eve. Demetrius Beasley, the 40-year-old man from St Louis who was the prime suspect for kidnapping the boy earlier, was also found dead. Police assume that it was a typical case of murder-suicide.

Cape Girardeau officers rushed to the home on Tuesday night only to find the lifeless bodies of the two with gunshot injuries. Markell's mother Michelle Gelling took him to St Louis for the weekend to spend time with Mr Beasley's relatives. Hours later, an Amber Alert was issued for the boy; according to The Jefferson City News Tribune.

Mr Beasley had a relation with Markell's mother earlier but he was not the biological father of the child. He did not possess any legal rights to Markell even though he was a part of the process of bringing up the child. Ms Gelling informed Jefferson City police that she took Markell to St Louis as she was assured that there would be a Christmas celebration. However, she found out that there was no such celebration over the weekend.

Mr Beasley took Markell with him. He later called and texted Ms Gelling several times to inform her that her child would not go back to her. He also threatened anyone who might make an effort to get the boy from him. Mr Beasley also told Ms Gelling that "God would see" her son "before she would." He notified her that he was in no mood to get back to prison as he was earlier convicted for felony charges in St Francois and Cape Girardeau counties.

Jefferson City prosecutors charged Mr Beasley with the apparent kidnap. Authorities, thereafter, issued an Amber Alert.

According to the police release, Jefferson City detectives collaborated with the FBI to find Markell and Mr Beasley.
