Americans named their favorite artists in the music scene at the American Music Awards Sunday.

The much-awaited event happened at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The star-studded event was full of fun and exciting performances, losers and winners and music.

Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj and Adele were some of the big winners. Country singer Swift bagged three awards (Country Female Artist; Country Album; and Artist of the Year).

The pink-loving rapper Minaj was named favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and taking home best Rap/Hip-Hop Album. British singer Adele was a no-show, recuperating from throat surgery.

The American Music Awards was full of performances from chart-toppers. Minaj and David Guetta opened the show performing their hits, and another notable performance was Jennifer Lopez's hot and sexy song and dance number. Her backup dancer and rumored boyfriend Casper Smart did not perform. JLo later sparkled on stage as she performed "On The Floor" with rapper Pitbull.

"Baywatch" actor David Hasselhoff surprised the guests with his raunchy performance with pop group LMFAO. Young pop superstar Justin Bieber also joined LMFAO in their performance.

At the red carpet, Hollywood's cutest couple, Bieber and Selena Gomez, arrived at the AMA together and Bieber even planted a soft kiss on his date's cheeks.
