The top seeds have been announced for the 2015 Australia Open. The world number one and four time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic, 27, of Serbia is the men's singles number one seed. While five time Australian Open champion Serena Williams, 33, is the top seed in the women's singles draw.

Roger Federer of Switzerland who just won his 1000 match has been seeded second. Rafael Nadal of Spain, who had an injury riddled last season, is seeded third. The defending champion Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland is seeded fourth. Ken Nishikori of Japan is the only seeded Asian in the men's draw in the Grand Slam of Asia Pacific. Andy Murray of Great Britain is seeded sixth. Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic is the seventh seed while Milos Raonic, David Ferrer and Grigor Dimitrov of Canada, Spain and Bulgaria are the eight, ninth and tenth seeds.

The women's draw is a much more straight forward affair with the top 32 players making the top 32 seeds in the tournament. Maria Sharapova of Russia, the 2008 winner is the second seed. Simona Halep of Romania is the third seed. Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic is the fourth. Ana Ivanovic of Serbia is the fifth seed. Agnieszka Raswanska, Eugenie Bouchard, Caroline Wozniacki, Angelique Kerber and Ekaterina Makarova of Poland, Canada, Denmark, Germany and Russia are the sixth, seventh, eighth, nineth and tenth seeds respectively.

The official draw will take place on Jan. 16th at 10:30 am local time. Defending champions Wawrinka and Li Na of China will be present for the occasion. Incidentally Li Na had to retire from Tennis last September as a result of persistent knee injuries.

Most of the top players have already arrived in Melbourne and are using the facilities to fine tune their game. The official Australian Open app is also now available for download from all popular smart phone application market places.
