Investigators assigned to look into the slew of naked celebrity photos said that there is a huge possibility that the hacker is not only one person, and that these hackers are US-based. Victims of recent nude photo scandals are celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Vanessa Hudgens, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and many more. Most of them asked the FBI to investigate. The actresses also did not let the matter slide as they hired high-powered lawyers to have the photos taken down from the Internet. One more victim, Gabrielle Union, even said that this could be considered as a "digital hate crime."

Page Six reports that investigators that are monitoring the cases have more grounds to cover. However, they are now surer than ever that there is a ring of hackers at work here and not only one. They are also quite sure that the ring of hackers is locally-based.

"This isn't one rogue hacker, this is the work of a ring of hackers," an unnamed source said. In addition, the source also asserted that evidence shows the ring of hackers are just in the U.S, because the victimized celebrities and the names on the "master list" that they have acquired are those who are only known by people who tune in to US cable TV.

Even though the FBI is not ready to release more solid details of the supposed ring of hackers, Bruce Anderson, who is resolving the cases, is not that hopeless. Bruce is working under the Cyber Investigation Services department and currently working with one celebrity victim. He believes that in time, the culprits may be brought into light using advanced methods.

"The FBI would look at victims' accounts with Apple to see if anybody has logged in. Is there a series of IP addresses linked to the account?" Bruce detailed. The process is, of course, not that easy. The sheer amount of pictures out there makes the job difficult, but not entirely impossible.
