NY Cannibal Cop Funny Memes: Police Officer Gilberto Valle Found Guilty on Cannibalism Plot [PHOTOS]
Social networking sites are currently targeting the convicted "New York Cannibal Cop" with funny images and memes. On Tuesday, jurors of the US Federal Court found Police Officer Gilberto Valle guilty for his cannibalism plot on young women.
"Today, a unanimous jury found that Gilberto Valle's detailed and specific plans to abduct women for the purpose of committing grotesque crimes were very real and that he was guilty as charged," US Attorney Preet Bharara stated.
During the court hearings, the 28-year-old police officer's lawyers pointed out that he was just sharing his "sick and twisted fantasies" through an online chat for personal pleasure. However, the jury decided that the 6-year veteran of the New York Police Department is dead serious and dangerous.
According to the prosecutors, Gilberto Valle discussed online the details of his plot in kidnapping, torturing, raping and even eating six women that he knew including his estranged wife, 27-year-old Kathleen Mangan-Valle. Disturbing images from the fetish web sites were shown to the jury.
The "New York Cannibal Cop" allegedly searched his potential targets on a restricted law enforcement database. He used as well the Internet for tips on how to knock out a person with chloroform and search for stores where to purchase torture devices and other tools.
"I want her to experience being cooked alive. She'll be trussed up like a turkey. She'll be terrified, screaming and crying," Valle stated in one of the several online fetish chat conversations shown to the jury.
In the other online chat evidence presented to the jury shows Valle suggesting about a woman he knew as an easy target because she lives alone. Valle and an unnamed man on the fetish chat room talked about cooking the woman "basted in olive oil over an open fire and using her severed head as a centerpiece for a sit-down meal."
The "Cannibal Cop" even mused in another chat exchange that he is "dying to eat some girl meat." Even though none of the targeted women were actually harmed, prosecutors believe that Gilberto Valle took solid steps to execute his cannibalism plot.
"The Internet is a forum for the free exchange of ideas but it does not confer immunity for plotting crimes and taking steps to carry out those crimes," the prosecutor cautioned. The "Cannibal Cop" case has now wrapped up the New York tabloid press to raise the question on freedom of speech.
Meanwhile, Gilberto Valle is scheduled to be sentenced on June 19 at the Manhattan federal court. There is a possibility that the "New York Cannibal Cop" will be given a life sentence.
