‘The OA’ co-creator and lead actress Brit Marling talks Netflix series
“The OA” co-creator and actress Brit Marling (Prairie Johnson) has answered some questions about the mysterious Netflix fantasy. She has also talked about the chances that the show will be green-lighted for another season.
Marling said she hopes Netflix will pick up “The OA” for another season. She even teased fans, saying she already knows how a second season will begin and end.
Speaking on the podcast “What to Watch,” Marling said she and co-creator Zal Batmanglij have always had an intention as to where “The OA” season 2 would start and where it would end. “It was important to know all those things upfront. So I guess we'll just have to see if we get to tell it,” she said.
In the show, Marling’s character is also known as the OA. Some fans are guessing that OA means Original Angel. When Marling was asked if it’s the right meaning of OA, she said any interpretation is actually correct. “If we get to keep telling the story, all those different definitions will evolve,” she added.
Moreover, Marling has also opened up with Rotten Tomatoes about Khatun (Hiam Abbass). She has shared what she likes most about the character, saying there is something sharp about her and that she is honest. “I think Khatun is not someone you would want to cross the wrong way,” she said.
Viewers know Khatun as someone whom the OA has visited during her near-death experiences. She appears like a gatekeeper and someone who possesses wisdom. The connection between Khatun and Marling’s character is expected to be revealed further in the upcoming episodes of “The OA.”
Marling is best known for being a Sundance star with the Searchlight movies “Sound of My Voice” (2011), “Another Earth” (2011) and “The East” (2013). Fans in Australia can catch “The OA” season 1 on Netflix.
