Sony Mobile finally released the Official and latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for both Xperia Z and ZL. The update includes new additions from 4.2.2 Jelly Bean version such as new widgets functionalities and quick settings.

Official Android 4.2.2 Update for Sony Xperia Z and ZL

Both Sony Xperia Z C6602 and Xperia ZL C6502 received an official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware from Sony. The official Android 4.2.2 firmware has a build number 10.3.A.0.423 and the release started on 2013-06-24. It features the following additions and enhancements for the two handsets.

- The "my Xperia" application that helps you find your phone and secure everything you have on it.

- New customisable navigation bar

- Quick Settings included

- New widget functionalities for both lock screen and home screen

- Bigger storage support of up to 64GB microSD card to store more files on your Xperia device

According to Sony Web site, your Xperia Z or ZL may already have the latest software version depending when it was purchased. Software updates from Sony are released at different times depending on the network carrier and country. Sony cannot determine the exact arrival date of official software updates for your device.

How to Update My Sony Xperia Z/ZL

You may update your phone using the Over-the-Air procedure. For checking any updates, go to "Settings > About phone > Software updates > System updates." It is recommended using a Wi-Fi connection instead mobile data connection to avoid heavy data traffic. Create a backup of all your personal settings and data files on your device before performing an update.

Another way is to use Sony PC Companion which needed to be installed on your computer. Once the installation is complete, launch the program then connect your handset via USB cable. After the drivers are installed, follow the instructions provided by the update prompt.
