HTC One will soon receive its official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware update and owners can expect it to roll out by the middle of June 2013.

Russian HTC representative, Andrey Kormiltsev, claims that Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for HTC One is going to be released very soon and according to several sources on Tweeter, Kormiltsev confirmed the said update is coming by the middle of June.

This update includes various changes to the HTC One such as Android 4.2.2 features and bug fixes throughout the system. Hopefully, it also solves several issues involving the speakers, soft keys and capacitive. Here are some features we should expect from the upcoming update:

  • New Lock screen widgets
  • Gesture typing
  • Quick Settings
  • New camera app tools
  • Daydream
  • Actionable notifications
  • Updated Google Now
  • Photo Sphere

HTC One official update may be released initially via Over-the-Air procedure and later via synchronization using a computer. But if you are impatient to wait till mid-June just to get the update, try the leaked Android 4.2.2 firmware from CyanogenMod 10.1.

According to the XDA developer's main thread, your HTC One must have an unlocked boot loader to be able to flash the leaked firmware. In addition, a custom recovery app must also be installed prior to the ROM's installation.

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean from CyanogenMod 10.1 seems only to work safely with the AT&T HTC One and still in Nightly build status. Be reminded that once you used the custom firmware, you will not be able to get the OTA version scheduled to be released in mid-June and you're forced to reinstall the original firmware to receive the OTA update.
