‘Offspring’ season 7 spoilers: Nina struggles between new love and family; Show bosses assure fans will enjoy the season
Nina Proudman has plenty on her plate in the upcoming “Offspring” season 7. The obstetrician head will deal with challenges not only at work but also in her personal life.
The future looks brighter, at least on Nina’s (Asher Keddie) personal life in the upcoming season. Viewers can expect a mix of drama and comedy when Australia's critically-acclaimed series comes back in June. This time, Nina navigates life with her new love Harry (Alexander England) while raising her three-year-old daughter Zoe (Isabella Monaghan).
In the season 6 finale, Nina and Harry's relationship went deeper. She realized that she needed to move on from Patrick after Zoe destroyed pictures of themselves. Keddie expressed hope that her character will find new love again when the “Offspring's” sixth season wrapped up last year.
This season, aside from her personal life, Nina will have to attend to her duties as acting head of obstetrics at the St Francis Hospital. Newlyweds Martin Clegg (Lachy Hulme) and Cherie Butterfield (Deborah Mailman) will still be in the Northern Territory for their outback outreach program when the season premieres.
Channel Ten head of drama Rick Maier vows that fans will not be disappointed in the storyline of season 7. “This may be the toughest year yet for Nina, Billie and Jimmy, with every relationship under pressure. But the Proudmans are a sturdy bunch and watching them sort out the chaos is all part of the fun. The scripts are fantastic, the cast is ready and we’re all looking forward to another compelling season of our favourite show,” Maier teased in a statement.
Series executive producer Imogen Banks also assured that viewers will definitely enjoy the upcoming season. “Expect all the excitement and confusion of Nina exploring new love with Harry; the chaos and drama of Billie making unexpected life decisions; and the inevitable joy and shenanigans that come from being part of the Proudman clan."
Production for “Offspring” season 7 has begun in Melbourne. Aside from Keddie, Hulme and England, another fan-favourite that will reprise her role is Kat Stewart (Billie Proudman). Billie will try to focus on Brody (Shannon Berry), who gave birth to a baby boy in the season 6 finale.
Richard Davies (Jimmy Proudman), Jane Harber (Zara Perkich Proudman), Linda Cropper (Geraldine Proudman), TJ Power (Will Bowen) and Sarah Peirse (Marjorie Van Dyke) are all coming back as well. “Offspring” season 7 is set to premiere on Australia’s Network Ten on June 29.
