Ohio High School Shooting Death Toll Increased While Suspect Faces Court Hearing
The death count increased to three from the high school shooting that happened on Monday, while the 17-year-old suspect attended the preliminary court trial in relation to the incident.
TJ Lane, the suspect, started shooting a group of students in a cafeteria situated at Chardon High School Monday morning. One got killed, four were injured. But recently, the death toll rose to three.
Teachers and students who heard and witnessed the shooting hurriedly hid themselves in the classrooms. The area was then immediately closed.
One of the witnesses in the cafeteria said he saw fellow students crawling on the floor. One of them who hid under the table was shot. The shooting was like a firecracker.
The witness saw TJ Lane holding a gun shooting at students.
Two teachers ran after the shooter, while victims were sent to the hospital. Authorities captured and detained the suspect, who will now be facing the court hearing.
Prosecutors will be filing some charges for the case until Thursday. According to authorities, the suspect was a bully victim and treated as an outcast in school.
Reports from the WKYC-TV showed victims were discovered in three different areas, which suggested that the gunman may have recognized and targeted them for killing.
One of the students who got killed by the incident was identified by police as Daniel Parmentor, 16, a junior student at Chardon High School.
Governor John Kasich of Ohio released a statement hours after the incident. He promised support from the state to local police. He also encouraged everyone to pray for the victims.
The court is currently finding out whether they would charge the suspect as an adult or juvenile.
