There has already been news about a fight between British boxer Amir Khan and Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2014. The latest addition in the list of the aspiring fighters who wish to fight the undefeated Mayweather is old timer Bernard Hopkins.

Hopkins, also known as The Executioner, is currently the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Light-heavyweight champion. Mayweather, on the other hand, remains undefeated and currently is the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight and light-middleweight champion. Mayweather is also the current title holder of the World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight division.

A light-heavyweight fighting against a light-middleweight? We wonder what weight they would both agree to make this fight happen.

"There are no other boxers that could beat Floyd Mayweather," said the 48-year-old Hopkins during the press conference for his match on Saturday. Hopkins will defend his title against German professional boxer Karo Murat. "So that is the only reason I threw my hat in there," he said.

Hopkins is the oldest world champion ever. If he thinks he has the ability as anybody against the Mayweather, maybe we should give him a chance.

"Can you imagine the promotion for a fight with Mayweather," said Hopkins. "I keep reminding people, there is always a possibility of anything," added Hopkins.

"I am not trying to chase anybody, but good luck to you if you can find a boxer that people want to see fight Mayweather," said Hopkins.

The chief executive officer of Golden Boy Promotions, Richard Schaefer, has this to say. "I just don't see a Mayweather-Hopkins match taking place," Schaefer said. "Floyd is really a welterweight, he can move up to light-middleweight but not to middleweight," he added. "I know that Bernard is a big name in the sports of boxing and it will generate incomes when it comes to Pay-Per-View, however, I just don't see a fight between him and Floyd will happen," said Schaefer.

Would Hopkins drop his weight to meet Mayweather? He last fought for middleweight in 2005. We all know that Mayweather has never fought in 160 pounds. The unbeaten boxer has never weighed 154 pounds.

Mayweather is clearly running out of challengers, and don't you think Hopkins could be a great option too?
