"Once upon a Time" was filled with twists in its second season premiere. But the succeeding episode secures those twists to a good place, and makes it look like everything is on the right track to more compelling story arcs this season.

Here is a recap of what happens in "Once Upon a Time" 2x02: "We are Both" (SPOILERS)

10. Regina's relationship with Rumpelstiltskin dating back to her birth is revealed. And the Evil Queen's relationship with her mother is exposed further.

9. Regina steals Henry from his gramps Prince Charming, but she later relinquishes her custody of him. Henry makes her realize she has become her dreadful mother.

8. Prince Charming rallies everyone who would listen to him in Storybrooke. He goes on a quest to find Snow White and Emma, but the Mad Hatter is not very helpful.

7. It seems she is on a path to redemption, but then Regina keeps her mother's spellbook. (Just to be safe, perhaps.)

6. Mulan and Princess Aurora are still in the story. But they are convinced Snow White and Emma only mean trouble.

5. August aka Pinocchio is back, or not. He is not entirely lost in the beginning of the episode. But Geppetto is unable to reach him.

4. Storybrooke people are trying to leave Storybrooke, but they couldn't. Rumpelstiltskin is unhappy about this, to say the least. (Now, who was it that could leave Storybrooke other than Emma and Henry? Oh. August. And Rumpel's boy.)

3. Here is a beautiful line from Regina: "I don't know how to love very well... If you hold onto someone too hard, that doesn't make them love you... I want to redeem myself."

2. Emma, Snow White and Regina's mother find each other in the same place.

1. A riddle from the Mad Hatter: "Two lives forever at odds. Double the pain, double the suffering."
