One Direction's Aussie and New Zealand (NZ) 2013 Tour was reportedly sold out with up to 300,000 tickets bought by fans.

This is according to a report from The Music Network. Sony Music and Nine Live, the co-promoters of the boy band's "Take Me Home" 2013 World Tour, said that One Direction had over 28 sold-out concerts in a span of 6 weeks.

Because of this amazing feat, One Direction band members Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik were each given commemorative Australian-designed skateboards.

Payne, Styles, Tomlinson, Malik and Horan were also given awards by Sony for selling 2.6 million units in Australia. This includes a 4x Platinum record for "Up All Night," 9x Platinum record for "Up All Night - The Live Tour DVD" and 3x Platinum record for "Take Me Home." The band's current single "Story Of My Life," is a certified hit on the iTunes chart. It is on the top spot of iTunes in Australia.

Another achievement for the British boy band is beating Metallica in getting the highest ticket sales at the Allphones Arena in Sydney.

Metallica previously held the record in 2010 by selling 74,244 tickets over four shows.

The new record is 81,542 ticket sales. One Direction was able to achieve that record by performing seven shows in Sydney.

Because of this record-breaking achievement, the boys were also awarded by Allphones Arena. They were each given a gold microphone. Plus, they were also presented with the "Entertainer's Star" plaque. This plaque was mounted at the Sydney Olympic Park precinct.

It is really amazing how much One Direction has accomplished in a short amount of time. Because the Aussie and New Zealand (NZ) 2013 Tour was sold out with close to 300,000 tickets bought by fans, having another concert in these parts of the world again will not be a surprise. The band's new "Where We Are" 2014 Stadium Tour dates have already been announced, and fans have yet to see if Australia and New Zealand will be included in the lineup again. But based on the band's overwhelming success and warm reception from Aussies and Kiwis alike, somehow, One Direction just might find time to squeeze in visits to these great places.
