One Direction Ends 2013 Aussie Tour: Custard Pies Thrown on Stage
One Direction ended their 2013 "Take Me Home" Aussie Tour on Oct. 30, 2013 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne with custard pies being thrown on stage.
The custard pie-throwing incident happened after the boys sang their last song with Australian pop rock band 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS). The two bands sang a cover of the song "Teenage Dirtbag" by Wheatus, an American rock group. After that special performance, the boys started throwing custard pies at their fellow band mates and at the members of 5 Seconds of Summer.
Don't worry. No one got hurt or anything, and it wasn't meant to be violent or to cause mayhem. It was just done in the spirit of fun and both bands took it pretty well. They had fun and were laughing at each other while taking videos and pictures of what happened on stage.
The audience had fun watching the spectacle as well. It was quite messy though. And probably sticky! It's a good thing the bands kept the action on stage. Otherwise, it would have been chaotic if they included their die-hard fans in the pie-throwing gimmick.
A video of the bands having fun on stage was recorded on their Instagram account and shared to their millions of followers. A photo of Harry Styles covered in pie was also shared. The two bands even posed together during a photo op prior to the pie throwing.
After Australia, the boy band will be heading to Asia for another leg of their world tour. On Nov. 2, One Direction members Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan will go to Tokyo, Japan, to perform at the Makuhari Messe. They will stay there until Nov. 3 and will officially end not only the band's Asian Tour but also the 2013 "Take Me Home" World Tour.
One Direction's 2013 World Tour ends and another one will begin next year. Yes, the popular boy band is set to have another world tour in 2014 starting on April 25 in Colombia. The boys will then proceed to other Latin American countries, European countries, Ireland and the UK. No word yet if they will return to Australia for their "Where We Are" 2014 Stadium Tour though.
