One Direction Singer Louis Tomlinson Vomits During Football Charity Match [VIDEOS]
One Direction star Louis Tomlinson football career might have been cut short after he boy band member vomited on the touchline on Sunday. During a charity match in Europe, the 21-year-old English pop star was tackled to the ground by Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor, causing the singer to limp away from the field.
Tomlinson was playing for a charity football match organised by ex-footballer Stiliyan Petrov at the Celtic Park in Glasgow when he was tackled to the ground by Agbonlahor. He had just passed the ball to another teammate when Agbonlahor tried to stop him.
The professional player kissed and patted the boybander on the head as a friendly gesture afterwards, but while Tomlinson appeared not to take offence, he was seen rolling on the field in pain while clutching his leg. He also visibly limped as he was leaving the field. Then not too long after, he started vomiting on the touchline.
When Martin O’Neill, the former Aston Villa and Celtic manager, was asked about Tomlinson’s condition, he was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying, “Agbonlahor smashed into him and he picked himself up and he was ill at the dressing room area.
“He has rushed off now but I think he is fine – he doesn’t know where he is but I think he is fine.”
For his part, Agbonlahor said he would apologise to the young singer.
“It was one of those things. I’ll apologise to Louis when we meet with everybody after the game,” the 26-year-old striker said. “I know he enjoyed playing in the game and it’s fantastic that he took time out to be here, and the same with everyone else who played.”
It’s not clear whether Tomlinson has personally received the apology, but if his fans are asked, Agbonlahor shouldn’t expect swift forgiveness.
Fans of the boy band star took to Twitter to express their fury at Agbonlahor for hurting their idol. Some “Directioners,” who are most in their early teens, have even sent him death threats.
The charity match was organised to raise money for the Stiliyan Petrov Cancer Foundation, which was set up by the titular football player who retired in May after being diagnosed with leukaemia.
