One Direction Songwriter Ed Drewett Joins 'Britain's Got Talent 2014'
Ed Drewett, the songwriter from Essex, auditioned for "Britain's Got Talent 2014,"and sang an original song called "Blink."
Ed Drewett is a 25-year old professional songwriter who co-wrote chart topper "All Time Low" and "Glad You Came" for the boy band The Wanted. He also wrote One Direction's 2013 hit "Best Song Ever." Now the writer is among the hopefuls of Britain's hit TV music competition "Britain's Got Talent," and is keen on following the footsteps of these famous artists. This time he has decided to be in the spotlight and become a singer in his own right. In a bid to win the judges' vote, Drewett stepped in front of the microphone and sang one of his original songs.
"Ever since I was a kid my dream was always to be a singer. When I was about nine I wrote a song called Frisbee, I sang it to all my friends in the park and from then on I kind of got the bug. I would love to be recognised as a singer in my own right that means a lot to me," Drewett told the judges during the audition.

Mirror UK quoted Drewett when he said that it was an "incredible experience" to hear one of the songs he has written on the radio. But as incredible as it was, it has always been his dream to be the singer himself.
Unfortunately, Ed Drewett missed the chance to impress show boss Simon Cowell, since he wasn't there to witness his audition, reported Express UK. But Drewett's performance left an impression on fellow judge Amanda Holden, who told him his song was "beautiful".
"I am totally gutted that Mr Simon Cowell isn't here because I think he would love you," Holden told Drewett.
Metro UK quoted another judge Alesha when she said that "songwriters are the real stars," because they're the "ones who make the artists who they are". She also praised Ed Drewett for his courage to "come out from behind the scenes" and perform a song which she thinks is a hit record.
Will Ed Drewett come out on top of "Britain's Got Talent" like the hit songs he has written? He may have created a new following after his audition, but others are questioning his motive for auditioning on the show.

Ed Drewett is already famous isn't he? #BGT — Col Talbot (@ColTalbot1) May 17, 2014
Sort of ironic Ed Drewett helped start TW's career and on the day it ends for them, it's gonna take off for him...
