One Direction fans will have to do without the British boy band for three months as the boys take a break. Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Harry Styles have reportedly struck a deal with their managers to allow them vacation before they begin another gruelling schedule.

The boys are reportedly exhausted after playing 131 shows for their “Take Me Home” tour in 2013. And with 2014 just right around the corner, they are expecting their schedule to be quickly filled up as well.

“The lads are dead on their feet. They’ve completed a huge world tour and done endless promo in between,” a source told The Sun.

“They approached management to work out a deal. Given their success, they could hardly disagree and understood entirely. It was all sorted on good terms.”

Their negotiation with their management allowed them a three-month break before they begin rehearsals in March for their “Where We Are” tour.

And a time to regroup before another taxing year ahead is probably just what the boys need. With 65 shows planned, their stadium tour is expected to reach the top ten grossing concert tours of all time.

According to Forbes, “Where We Are” will likely gross over USD314 million, which would put them in the company of some of the music industry’s superstars, like U2, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, and Madonna.

Combine their upcoming tour with their “Up All Night” from 2012 and their “Take Me Home” tour in 2013, One Direction will have played 196 shows, making them one of the most active touring acts in the last five years.

Harry (19), Niall (20), Zayn (20), Liam (20), and Louis (21) have separated for the holiday season to spend their time with their family and friends. They are set to reunite in March, and will begin their worldwide tour in April.

Meanwhile, Niall will reportedly use his break to undergo a knee surgery in the U.S. The Sun also claimed that he has been suffering from dislocated knee since he was younger, and now he has found time to have an operation to correct it.

“He’s had physio sessions for years, but the pain persists so surgery is the best solution to have him fully fit and ready for the demands of a long tour,” the UK tabloid’s source said.
