One Direction to take an extended hiatus starting March 2016
One Direction, or 1D, will reportedly take an extended hiatus starting March 2016. Will 1D’s break from the music scene eventually lead to their split?
Some of the fans of the English-Irish boy band have given their reactions on Twitter over the claims that Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson will go their separate ways. Some fans pointed out through their tweets that there is a difference between “taking a break” and “breaking up,” while others still showed their love and support regarding 1D’s decision to take a break.
An unnamed source has confirmed to People that the members of One Direction mutually agreed to take a year-long hiatus to work on their own projects. Meanwhile, The Sun reports that there will be no tour for One Direction’s fifth album, which means the boy band’s last full concert will take place at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England on Oct. 31.
An unnamed 1D source told The Sun that there is no bad blood between the remaining four members of the group.
“They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects,” the source stated in The Sun report. “It is definitely not a split and they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future,” The Sun’s source added.
The source also insists that Zayn Malik’s departure from One Direction last March is not the reason behind the group’s decision to take a lengthy break. According to the unnamed 1D source, the extended hiatus was One Direction’s plan with or without Malik.
“In fact, the band has been making amazing music and been incredibly happy without Zayn. Of course they would have preferred that he had stayed in the band, but they would have taken this extended hiatus even if he hadn’t left,” the source shared in same report by The Sun.
The 1D source further added that music producer Simon Cowell and his team at Syco Records are excited about the boy band’s album. One Direction is set to return in February after the holiday season break to complete the rest of their promotional commitments to their record label.
