One Direction singer Liam Payne narrowly escaped a fire accident in his flat.

DailyMail reported Liam Payne as unharmed from the said accident. However, his friend suffered 20 degree burns and is currently resting in a hospital.

Liam and his friend were at the star's apartment last Monday night when his friend tried to re-fuel the outside heater placed on the terrace of the flat. However, the heater set ablaze due to unknown cause that set the whole balcony on fire.

Liam was at the kitchen at the time of the accident and ran quickly to his friend to put out the flames. Liam also accompanied his pal to the hospital, while a fire brigade arrived to put the fire out. The fire left the balcony of the star almost completely destroyed.

Liam and the rest of his bandmates were busy recording their upcoming LP while they are tour. However, he spent his 20th birthday back in London.

The One Direction star was also spotted with his new girlfriend, Sophia Smith, after the band wrapped up filming their latest music video in a traditional pie and mash shop.

Liam made sure to thank his fans on his birthday and encouraged them to donate to Trekstock to help young people with cancer instead of giving him presents.

"Good morning everyone :) can't quite believe my life there's no bigger birthday present than what you've done for me in 3 years thank you xx," Liam tweeted.
