Miss World 2013 Megan Young

Joyce's open letter was about the recent resolution filed in Congress after the House of Representative congratulates the 23-year old Miss World 2013. The Senate Resolution No. 274 was filed in honor of Megan Young's victory and the first Filipina to be hailed as Miss World.

Philippines Senator Grace Poe noted Young's accomplishments before her coronation night held in Bali, Indonesia on September 28. Said said, "Young is a symbol of peace "in these trying times, bringing glory to the nation that needs understanding."

Philippine Senator Chiz Escudero also filed a Senate Rresolution No. 281 to honor and recognize the actress' feat. The proud senator is all praises with Young's victory and said, "victory not only for making history for the country, but for telling the whole world about 'her story' on what Filipinos can achieve in the international arena."

"We toast Megan and all our fellow Filipinos who illuminate our pride as a nation and raise our consciousness as a people under one flag," Sen Escudero said in his resolution.

He adds, "Her accomplishment as a beauty queen brings not only the needed respite from the political and social ills that currently beset the country but hope as well, as we aspire to be a better people struggling to make a difference in life and for the country."

In response to these resolution, a concerned netizen made an open letter posted in www.adventuresofabeautyqueen.com addressing the House of Representatives to get their act together in the fight against corruption and to honor Megan Young by doing their jobs properly and honestly.

Her letter reads:

Dear Congress/House of Representatives,

It was really nice that some of you came up with a resolution to commend and honor Megan Young for being the Philippines' first ever Miss World titlist. Megan deserves it because she fought the good fight. Her goal now is to be the best Miss World ever.

Is your goal to be the best of congressmen ever?

I think all of you in the House of Representatives need to be like Megan and fight the good fight. And most of all stop stealing the people's money and lying about it too. That would be the right way to honor her; not through your words but by your actions.

Don't even think for a second that we have forgotten the pork barrel issue. We will continue to push for justice.

Truly, it is hard to believe that our nation has reached the point where our beauty queens are far more honorable than many of you in Congress and even the Senate.

Sincerely, but not yours,
Joyce
