Oprah in Australia: Hollywood top host Oprah now in Australia
Hollywood's top talkshow host Oprah Winfrey has landed in Australia to start her the Ultimate Australian Adventure. Oprah's private plane touched down at Cairns airport in Queensland this morning for refueling.
Oprah will join her 300 audience from Chicago in Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays. Her Chicago audience, who were surprised with an eight-day Australian tour at The Oprah Winfrey Show opening for its current season, were flown in to Australia yesterday.
Hamilton Island is the largest inhabited island of the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, Australia. It is situated on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, amongst Queensland's 74 Whitsunday Islands. Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure will feature the Great Barrier Reef.
Oprah's trip to Australia is part of the country's tourism promotion with funding from the federal and NSW government.
Partners and sponsors of "Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure" include Tourism Australia, Qantas Airways, Chevrolet, Motorola, American Express and Telstra. The "Oprah" show Australian television affiliate and partner is Network Ten.
It will also be the first Oprah Winfrey episode to be filmed outside the United States. The episode featuring Oprah's eight day trip to Australia will also mark the start of the show's 25th and final season.
