Hollywood's top talkshow host Oprah Winfrey is set make her only public appearance today as part of her Utlimate Australian Adventure. Oprah will be in Federation Square in Melbourne at 2:30 in the afternoon (AEDT).

Oprah is expected to meet with Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard at today's event. The Fed Square is "a civic centre and cultural precinct" located in Melbourne, attracting as much as 8.41 million visitors last year making it Victoria's second most popular tourist attractions.

Yesterday, Oprah Winfrey spent her second day in Australia at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and Ayers Rock Resort. The trip to Uluru is a detour from her original destination on the advice of her friend, singer Paul Simon. Oprah and her invited guests then dined at the Whitehaven Beach with barbeques prepared by celebrity chef Curtis Stone.

Aside from Uluru, Oprah and her audience already visited the Great Barrier Reef, Kangaroo Island, and the Yarra Valley. Her 300 Chicago audience have been touring Australia since their arrival early this week. Some of them spent a night in Byron Bay. About 14 of Oprah's entourage landed in Darwin and were flown to an Aboriginal rock art site near Katherine.

Oprah Winfrey's Australia visit has sparked a ticket frenzy among Australians ,as 3000 people chosen by online lottery tickets, will be part of her audience in a two-episode show at the Opera House.

The eight-day trip trip to Australia and the two episodes will be the first Oprah Winfrey episodes to be filmed outside Oprah's home country United States. The episodes featuring Oprah's trip to Australia will also mark the start of the show's 25th and final season.

Oprah's ongoing trip in Australia is part of the country's tourism promotion with funding from the federal and NSW government. Tourism Australia, Qantas Airways, Chevrolet, Motorola, American Express and Telstra are among the Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure sponsors and partners, with Channel Ten as its Australian television affiliate.
