Oprah Winfrey gave the Duchess of York a show on her television channel OWN. Oprah was even the one behind the idea of the show.

Winfrey said the concept of Finding Sarah, a six-part documentary featuring Sarah Ferguson, came to her after she interviewed the Duchess of York about selling her access to Prince Andrews.

"That came from an interview I did this summer with her. We had a moment of real connection, watching the tape of her trying to get £500,000 [for access to Prince Andrew]," Oprah tells Parade.

"She said she didn't want to go into bankruptcy. I said, 'But when you look at that tape, don't you see a morally bankrupted person? The one thing you were trying to avoid, you already are.' She said, 'I never thought of it that way before.'"

Earlier this year, the Duchess of York figured in a video where she could be heard asking for £500,000 "to open doors." It turned out that Sarah was selling her access to Prince Andrews to an undercover reporter disguising as an Indian businessman. She was on the brink of bankruptcy at the time, with reports saying she has a debt of £2 million to £5 million.

The Duchess of York proved determined to get out of bankruptcy. As revealed by Oprah, Sarah even considered doing a celebrity chef show, after Oprah warned her against starring on Dancing with the Stars. But Oprah did not think it will help Sarah to be a celebrity chef.

"I said, 'That's not going to help you. How are you going to rehabilitate yourself on a celebrity chef show? You should be working on yourself,'" said the talk show host.

Thus, Finding Sarah was conceptualized by Oprah for the Duchess of York. The documentary will premiere this spring on Oprah's brand new channel OWN.
