Optus to launch iPhone 4 on July 30
Optus today announced that it will offer the iPhone 4 in Australia on July 30 with a range of plans.
"Optus has developed what we believe are the most compelling plans and offers for consumer and business customers in Australia to make the most out of the feature packed new iPhone 4," said Optus Consumer Marketing Director Austin R Bryan.
"We are offering one of the best value iPhone offers ever with the $59 Extreme Cap plan which includes a 16GB iPhone 4 for $0 upfront, a massive 2GB of data, unlimited calls to all your friends on Optus, as well as $550 of call value to any other network in Australia."
Since launching iPhone 3G in July 2008, Optus has been investing significantly in its mobile network. It has built over 1,000 new 3G mobile sites and engaged in over 2,500 upgrades to existing mobile sites.
Over the past 12 months, the company said it "has more than doubled the carrying capacity on its mobile network and bought additional spectrum for use in both metropolitan and regional Australia."
iPhone 4 features FaceTime, which video calling via WiFi possible. It has Apple's new Retina display, the highest resolution display ever built into a phone, resulting in super crisp text, images and video.
The gadget also has a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, HD video recording, Apple's A4 processor, a 3-axis gyro and up to 40 percent longer talk time. It has an all-new design of glass and stainless steel and is the thinnest smartphone in the world.
iPhone 4 comes with iOS 4, the newest version of the world's most advanced mobile operating system, which includes over 100 new features. The App Store provides access to more than 200,000 apps, including the new iMovie app built just for iPhone 4.
