‘Orange is the New Black’ Season 2 Features Male Frontal Nudity
Jenji Kohan, creator of "Orange is the New Black," has revealed that there will be male frontal nudity in the second season of of the show.
"We have some male frontal nudity this season," said Kohan at Hollywood Radio and Television Society luncheon, as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter, adding, "but I don't think it's going to be erect."
The show-runner revealed that Netflix has not set many boundaries when it comes to showing graphic sex scenes in the hugely popular dramedy. However, she finds it difficult to convince the actors to get naked.
"I love graphic sex, the more sex the better. Very often it's convincing the actors to get naked. ... You hope everyone will just be cool about it, and then they're not. There's a lot of convincing and making people feel comfortable."
Talking about the upcoming season, Kohan said, as reported by She Knows, that they took everyone's favourite things from Season 1, and as a result of that, the new season is "just dance parties, pie-throwing and urination." All the 13 episodes of "Orange is the New Black" will be released on June 06, 2014.
"Orange is the New Black" is based on Piper Kerman's memoir of the same name. It has, however, not stayed true to the memoir. Kohan revealed that Kerman herself was not comfortable with the idea of turning her real life into a fictional tale. The show-runner said that they deviated from the original source quite early in the show.
"We just started the [writer's] room and we got a call that Piper signed off, but none of the other characters in the book were available for interviews, so we decided we better start making those up," said Kohan, as quoted by She Knows.
According to Kohan, the show "became its own animal."
"She's [Kerman] the godmother of it, and she's the source of it, but it's become its own show," added Kohan.
The new season of "Orange is the New Black" is set to feature back-stories of Lorna, Taystee, and Poussey, as Piper Chapman is no longer the sole focus of the show.
