The upcoming, new season of "Orange is the New Black" promises to be more compelling than the first season. The first, full trailer of the second season indicates that it is going to be crazier than the first. Jenji Kohan, creator of "Orange is the New Black," has said that the theme of "Orange is the New Black" Season 2 is a little more darker and fractured.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kohan said, "We had a theme for season 2. A little darker, a little more fractured. We wanted to explore the groups one at a time. It was getting a little summer-campy, and we wanted to address the realities that this is prison."

"Orange is the New Black" Season 2 picks up a few weeks after the violent show-down between Piper and Pennsatucky, according to Entertainment Weekly's report. Piper finds herself in a solitary confinement after she beats-up Pennsatucky.

Kohan has indicated that the new season features a good number of juicy stories, as back-stories of other prison inmate will be shown. She had said in one of her earlier interviews that the story of "Orange is the New Black" will not just focus on Piper Chapman, but all the characters will get equal focus. Fans can expect to see Lorna, Taystee, and Poussey centric episodes.

Meanwhile, Laura Prepon returns for four episodes to reprise her role as Alex Vause. Perhaps to fill her absence, a new character called Vee joins the colourful inmates of Litchfield. Vee, portrayed by Lorraine Toussaint, is someone who Red knows from her past, according to Rolling Stone.

Talking about her character Toussaint said, as quoted by Rolling Stone, "I think it'll be interesting seeing how this character is received, because Jenji has written a character that plays and enjoys the game, and is incredibly engaging and draws people into her -- into the big game and has -- I have a great deal of fun." The actress believes that Vee is one of the most complex characters that she has ever played.

This Netflix original series is set to premiere on June 06, 2014. Netflix will make available all the 13 episodes on the same date.
