‘Orange is the New Black’ Season 2: More Focus on all Characters, Uncovering of Universal Themes
Netflix has yet to announce the premiere date of "Orange is the New Black" Season 2, but the buzz surrounding this original Netflix series refuses to die down. The star-cast of "Orange is the New Black" continues to drop hints about the upcoming season.
Uzo Aduba, who plays Crazy Eyes, has said in an interview with HitFix that audience will "definitely learn" more about her character in the upcoming season of "Orange is the New Black." The actress did not reveal much as they are still filming the second season.
Jenji Kohan, creator of "Orange is the New Black," had indicated that the second season of "Orange is the New Black" will be an "ensemble" in character. The story-line will not completely focus on Piper Chapman. The upcoming season will explore the story-lines of other characters, as well.
Echoing a similar thought without revealing much, Uzo said to HitFix that they "certainly learning more about who she (Crazy Eyes/Suzanne) is, along with other characters inside of prison."
"The beauty of the writing is that we travel quite intimately into their [characters] lives. There are a lot of universal themes that are uncovered," said Taylor Schilling to Studio Q.
As reported, Laura Prepon will return to play her role of lesbian inmate, Alex Vause. It was earlier speculated that she will appear in only one episode of the second season, and her story-line will wrap-up. Buzzfeed recently reported that the role of Vause will have an open-ending, which will keep a window open for Vause to appear in season 3 of "Orange is the New Black."
"Orange is the New Black' is based on Piper Kerman's memoir of the same name. In the Netflix's comedy-drama series, Chapman is convicted of smuggling drug money for Vause, the lesbian drug smuggler and her ex-lover. Chapman is serving her 15 months sentence in the prison and Vause is also serving her sentence in the same prison.
The second season promises to deliver compelling, rich content.
