"Orange is the New Black" Season 2 has a confirmed premiere date. The hugely popular, critically acclaimed Netflix original drama-comedy is returning on June 06, 2014. Netflix had released the first season on July 11, 2013. And, it had renewed "Orange is the New Black" for Season 2 even before the debut of Season 1.

Created by Jenji Kohan, "Orange is the New Black" is based on Piper Kerman's memoir, "Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison." In the first season, Piper Chapman was sentenced to 15 months of prison time for smuggling drug money for her lesbian ex-lover, Alex Vause. The white-sub-urbanite woman was sent to Litchfield Prison. The ex-lover soon joined Chapman at the same prison. The first season focused on Piper's life in the prison and her relationship with Alex and other interesting prison characters, belonging to different racial and ethnic groups. The new season will be focussing on all the characters, giving equal importance to everyone's story-line.

The new promo features Taylor Schilling as Chapman, while Alex Vause is not there in the brief clip. There was much suspense surrounding the length of Alex Vause's role in the new season. Kohan has confirmed that she will be in Season 2, but she will not appear in all the 13 episodes. "Yes, yes, she [Laura Prepon] is coming back," Kohan said to US Weekly. "Not the whole season, but...you'll see her for most of it."

Alex Vause's storyline is expected to have a open-ending, which makes it possible for the character to return in Season 3.

Like "House of Cards," all the 13 episodes of "Orange is the New Black" will be available on June 06, 2014. "Orange is the New Black" recently wrapped-up the filming of Season 2.

Schilling had said to Huffington Post that the upcoming season is getting "fuller, richer and more compelling."
